About Chi

Do you have an office?
Yes, my hours are by appointment only. Please call or email to schedule an appointment. The address is 4552 Ladson Road, Summerville, SC 29485 (Ladson Oakbrook Shopping Center). I do not accept mail at this address so if you have a contract or payment to send, please use the address listed in your contract.
What is your wedding style?
Simple, sweet and sophisticated. With subtle and artistic attention to detail, I capture sweet moments, expressions, and all the little things in between. I try to steer more towards a candid observation of your day. If photos are not a priority for you then I’m probably not the photographer for you. If you’re only hiring a photographer because your parents insisted that you do then I’m not the photographer for you. If you hate your picture being taken, I can’t make you look like you love it, no photographer can. So it’s essential that you are honest about your photography expectations from the beginning. After all is said and done, besides that marriage license, your photos are all you have left. It’s very important to plan plenty of time for these.
Do you have any tips on choosing a photographer?
I think choosing a photographer is very important when planning a wedding. I believe in a good match between myself and my client, so loving a photographer’s work and feeling comfortable with the photographer are very important to the overall outcome. Keep in mind, you will spend much of your wedding day with your photographer!
Is this your full time job?
Well, not counting my two kids (and my husband), Yes, this is what I love to do and all that I do.
Do you travel?
Yes! I love traveling and I am ready to go anywhere in the world.
Do you charge for travel?
Travel fees will depend on the distance from Charleston, SC. Anything outside of this area would require a travel fee based on the mileage or air travel required. For engagement and bridal sessions, I only shoot those in the surrounding Charleston areas. If you require outside this area, travel fees will apply.
Do you work with an assistant or a second photographer?
Currently no second photographers are offered as I work primarily as a solo photographer. With a well planned out event timeline I can capture everything you’re looking for.
Do you take posed pictures?
While I try to be spontaneous, I also value having relaxed portraits of the most important people in your life.
Can we print from the DVD we purchase?
Yes, all images on the DVD are high-resolution Jpegs with no watermarks. They are yours for your own personal use and come with a Client Copyright Release specific for you.
Can our guests take photographs at our wedding?
Yes. I do ask that no one else brings any professional equipment as this can cause problems with the outcome of your images, especially if my flash is fighting against theirs. I also remind you to check with your church venue to make sure you have knowledge of their photography restrictions well in advance. Most churches do not allow flash photography so your photographer needs to be equipped for this.
How many photographs will be taken at our wedding?
I take an average of 100-150 images per hour. If I shoot a 10 hour wedding, you can count on at least 1000-1200 images depending on the event.
How long do you store my images?
I never want to delete your images, but I typically store them for 2 years.
What is your Bridal Gift Registry?
Your guests can make monetary contributions towards your album or prints, meaning you’ll have more cash to spend on your honeymoon! This is a great option to give your wedding guests who may not know what to buy for a gift. You can include our contact info on your wedding website as part of your registry, giving them an easy option of purchasing gift certificates for you to put towards your wedding photography package or future album.
How long will it be before my images are ready?
For beach, portrait, engagement or newborn sessions, your images will be online in about 2 weeks from your session date. For weddings, images are ready in about 4 weeks depending on the busy wedding season.
How will we see our wedding images after the wedding?
Your images will be online in a private password protected gallery for you and your guests to view, and purchase prints as well. Once you have had time to view your images you can make additional editing requests such as black & white images. If you have purchased the DVD of images with your package, you will receive your disc once we have completed any editing requests.
What kind of equipment do you use?
I use professional Canon digital SLR bodies, Canon professional speedlights and Canon lenses. These are Canon’s finest professional lenses. And yes, I have backup equipment.
When is it best to schedule our engagement or bridal portraits?
Engagement and bridal portraits can be scheduled anytime in the months before your wedding, but need to be done no later than a month before your event in order for me to have time to edit your images and for you to have time to order prints if desired.
When do you typically meet with clients?
I am available by appointment during the business day, evenings or weekends. Please call or email to schedule an appointment, I look forward to hearing from you. If you are unable to meet with me before your wedding, don’t worry, I work a lot with destination bride and grooms, so I’m very comfortable working with you through emails and phone calls to get all the final details settled.
What is your payment policy?
I ask for a non-refundable 25% retainer to hold your date. The balance of your contract is due 2 weeks prior to your wedding. We accept all payment methods. Credit card payments are taken through PayPal.
When should and how do we book?
Most dates are booked 8-12 months in advance with the spring and fall dates booking first. To book, I just need a completed contract and a 25% retainer. Dates are booked on a first come first serve basis. If I have more than one inquiry for a date, the first person who brings me a signed contract and retainer gets the date.
